Sonoma Valley Wine Tour

Just 40 minutes from San Francisco, Sonoma's proximity makes a lovely half-day wine tour. A smaller valley than Napa, with fewer wineries, Sonoma personalizes your wine country experience. Half-day rates apply, or combine with the Napa Valley Wine Tour, for an all-day, two-valley wine tour.

Enjoy Sonoma's Cooler Climate

Enjoy the nature tour wine experience like Napa Valley, but in a valley that is significantly cooler in peak season heat. The less-developed Sonoma Valley, home to many private, organic and small novelty wineries. provides a less commercial feel to a wine tour. This is Jack London's beloved "Valley of the Moon," where oak-covered hills give way to acres of vinyards and dozens of wineries, large and small.

Wine Country Ecology and Natural Habitats

Sonoma Valley, closer to the sea than Napa and about 17 miles long, contains more ranches and farms which give way to a more spontaneous, less-structured visit to the wine world.

With many creeks and streams throughout the valley, scenic riparian habitats provide easy access to spot rocks, birds, flowers and trees. Near the north end of the valley, a self-guided discovery tour and trail explains the geology of nearby 1/2-mile high Sonoma Mountain.

Walk Through an Organic Vineyard

A walk through an organic vineyard displays the "greening" trend in the wine industry. Observe exhibits of the integration of cover crops with vines, recycling of nutrients, maintenance of soil, as well as wild animal allies to control pests.
